Alt H A N on Mac: Accounting Number Format in Excel
To run Accounting Number Format with Alt H A N in Excel on a Mac, install LightningXL, tap Option, then type H, A, N. The same keys as Windows, with the same result.

Install LightningXL
Download LightningXL, then follow the instructions. Setup takes about two minutes.
Select what to act on
Click a cell, or select the range the command should apply to.
Tap Option, then type H A N
Tap ⌥ on its own to show the key tips, then H for Home, A N for Accounting Number Format.
What Alt H A N does
Accounting Number Format sits on the Home tab of the Excel ribbon. On Windows, Alt H A N runs it from the keyboard. Excel for Mac has the same ribbon but no Alt key, so without LightningXL you click through Home › Accounting Number Format instead.
